Before you book

• Verify carrier authority (MC/DOT active and matching the company name).
• Confirm insurance is current and adequate.
• Check carrier history and reputation.
• Use a written agreement that prohibits re-brokering.

Before dispatch

• Collect driver name, truck, and trailer numbers.
• Confirm the pickup location and appointment.
• Watch the load board – is your load being re-posted?

At pickup (the critical step)

• Confirm the driver and equipment match what was dispatched.
• Verify the BOL details against the booked carrier.
• Confirm the physical pickup – location, time, and identity.

Why the pickup step matters most

Everything before pickup verifies information. Only pickup verification confirms reality – that the carrier you approved is the one physically taking the load. A GPS-locked QR code on the BOL does this automatically: one scan locks the location and time to the document.
